Beskrivning av Dala horse 42 cm
Thus, there are not two exactly the same horses in the world, just as it should be with a genuine craft.
The height indicates the highest point on the horse to the surface where the horse stands.
In the 18th-century forest huts, perhaps the men sat around the fire during the winter evenings and rested after a long day. After eating and looking after their tools, many people then relaxed by carving out a figure from a piece of wood. Today, you will find the same figures as one of Sweden's strongest symbols - the Dala horse. Like then, they are still hand-carved by skilled fingers out in the villages around Siljan, and in addition to being a symbol of Sweden, the Dala horse is also a symbol of quality, professionalism and accuracy. Already at the local sawmill we select the best timber for our products, which after passing the band saw goes out to our craftsmen who carefully shape the horses with carving knives in their homes. When the horses have returned, we prime, plaster and sand the horses in our factory in Nusnäs until they are completely smooth and ready to be painted by our skilled decorators. We have solid experience in both series production and special orders - whether you are organising the World Cup, Eurovision or an anniversary. Every year, we produce 100,000 Dala horses completely by hand, which means that we can proudly say that every copy holds the measure of our high standards.
