Seven sticks in the back
The Leksand chair that we know today has its origins in the early 1900s, but the basic shape of the chair dates back to the middle of the 18th century.
All kinds of furniture were manufactured on most farms during the 18th century, but it was in the area around Siljansnäs that the first Leksand chair was manufactured. Around the turn of the century, a demand for furniture from Dalarna to the rest of Sweden started, so they produced sofas, tables, desks and especially chairs with seven rungs in the back.
